| From Principal George Dear Olympia Families, If you haven’t noticed, our playground is officially up and running! The students are thoroughly enjoying the new areas, and I have included a picture below of the playground in action. Additional photos are available on our Facebook page for those who would like to see more. We recently celebrated classrooms from each grade level in our Progress Learning competition. Not only are students earning individual rewards, but they are also competing as homerooms for a classroom party. Congratulations to the following homerooms: Beacom (5th Grade), Alvarado (4th Grade), Thurston (3rd Grade), Payne(2nd Grade), Hardy(1st Grade), and Gomez(Kindergarten). Our next winners will be selected at the end of January based solely on Stars earned from this point forward. It is a fierce competition, and I am excited to see which classes will emerge as our next winners. Reminders from previous newsletter information Officer Winter has shared several important safety tips for the holiday season, which are included below for your reference under "Holiday Safety Tips". I am often asked, “How can I support my child’s learning at home?” With a few weeks off coming up, this is an excellent opportunity to take advantage of Progress Learning. You can access the program by visiting JudsonISD.org, selecting ClassLink, and having your child log in just as they would at school. Even dedicating one hour a day can make a meaningful difference. Progress Learning provides customized lessons tailored to each student’s needs, helping them strengthen their individual learning paths. We also recognize students’ extra effort through our “Learning is My Superpower” rewards program, which celebrates both individual students and classrooms. Expectations for these rewards are listed below. Each week I send out a Weekly Newsletter that highlights upcoming events, important PTO information, and photos from around the campus. The newsletter is emailed to the enrolling parent and is also available on our Olympia Elementary Facebook page, where we regularly share additional updates and pictures. Please be sure to follow us to stay connected.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Shannon George Principal, Olympia Elementary | | Learning is My Superpower | |

| | | Counselor CornerHi Families! This month during my classroom lessons, students are learning how to develop a growth mindset and how to plan, modify, and achieve goals. These lessons look a little different depending on the grade levels. But the main points for these lessons are; keep going when challenged, change our negative thoughts, practice makes better, check our progress, and how to set a good goal. What I am stressing with all students is the power of the word "yet." Such as, "I can't read, yet," or "I can't ride my bike without training wheels, yet!" or "I can't make a goal, yet." | Learning in Classroom CirclesNov 10th-Dec 1st Being Considerate If you would like to reinforce the lessons on Being Considerate we recommend 4 popular kids books that could lead to great discussions. These could also probably be found on utube as well Miss Tizzy by Gray, Grumpy Cat by Teckentrup, Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch by Spenelli, and Tacing Care of Momma Rabbit by Lobel. Some Sample Qs: When we do the right thing by taking care of others we are being considerate and showing compassion. What were some of the good things people did in the story. Why did they do those things?
The Goal: When we do the right thing, we can feel it in our hearts. When we take care of others...we have happy hearts. We can show compassion and consideration to our friends, family, pets, and even people we don't know. The more we practice the more we get into the habit of doing it everywhere.
Summary/Key Phrase: When we do the right thing, we have HAPPY HEARTS.
Dec 1st-Dec 15th Using Good Manners
If you would like to reinforce the lessons on Using Good Manners we recommend 4 popular kids books that could lead to great discussions. These could also probably be found on utube as well Please, mr. Panda by Anthony, Just Say Please by Mayer, What Pets Teach us by Donner, and Do unto Otters by Keller. Some Sample Qs: There are certain words that show others they have good manners what are some of those? There are certain actions we can take that show good manners as well what are those?
The Goal: The best way for students to get into a good habit of using manners is through practice. Teachers will continue to practice and reinforce good manners throughout the year support them through practice in the home as well.
Summary/Key Phrase: My behavior sends a message | | | | Have a question, concern, or suggestion? Please submit it below, if you have the question others might also we frequently will put answers up for everyone to clear up any concerns or confusion.
