| From Principal George Dear Olympia Families, As we approach the start of our holiday break, I hope everyone enjoys a safe and restful time with family and friends. - With changing weather conditions this week, the PTO and I are closely monitoring the forecast. Should inclement weather affect Friday’s Fun Run, we have an alternate plan ready to go, supported by our Boosterthon sponsors.
- Officer Winter has also shared several important safety tips for the holiday season, which are included below for your reference under "Holiday Safety Tips".
- I am often asked, “How can I support my child’s learning at home?” With several holidays coming up, this is an excellent opportunity to take advantage of Progress Learning. You can access the program by visiting JudsonISD.org, selecting ClassLink, and having your child log in just as they would at school. Even dedicating one hour a day can make a meaningful difference. Progress Learning provides customized lessons tailored to each student’s needs, helping them strengthen their individual learning paths. We also recognize students’ extra effort through our “Learning is My Superpower” rewards program, which celebrates both individual students and classrooms. Expectations for these rewards are listed below.
A quick reminder: each week I send out a Weekly Newsletter that highlights upcoming events, important PTO information, and photos from around the campus. The newsletter is emailed to the enrolling parent and is also available on our Olympia Elementary Facebook page, where we regularly share additional updates and pictures. Please be sure to follow us to stay connected. Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Shannon George Principal, Olympia Elementary | | Learning is My Superpower | |

As always, free coffee with be provided by Starbucks at the Forum. | Learning in Classroom CirclesOct 27th-Nov 10th Being a Good Citizen If you would like to reinforce the lessons on Being a Good Citizen we recommend 4 popular kids books that could lead to great discussions. These could also probably be found on utube as well Clifford's good deed by Bidwell, Good People Everywhere by Gillen, Ordinary Mary's Extraordinary Deed by Pearson, and The Kindness Quilt by Wallace. Some Sample Qs: Everyone in a community is a citizen, what does a good citizen look like? What are some good things your classmates do that show they care about one another? How were the people in the books acting like good citizens?
The Goal: Students need to look beyond their own needs for the good of others in the community. For this reason, resist the urge to overly complement and reward good deeds. When we do a good thing we have a happy heart and that should be enough
Summary/Key Phrase: I take care of others ... I take care of the community
Nov 10th-Dec 1st Being Considerate
If you would like to reinforce the lessons on Being Considerate we recommend 4 popular kids books that could lead to great discussions. These could also probably be found on utube as well Miss Tizzy by Gray, Grumpy Cat by Teckentrup, Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch by Spenelli, and Tacing Care of Momma Rabbit by Lobel. Some Sample Qs: When we do the right thing by taking care of others we are being considerate and showing compassion. What were some of the good things people did in the story. Why did they do those things?
The Goal: When we do the right thing, we can feel it in our hearts. When we take care of others...we have happy hearts. We can show compassion and consideration to our friends, family, pets, and even people we don't know. The more we practice the more we get into the habit of doing it everywhere.
Summary/Key Phrase: When we do the right thing, we have HAPPY HEARTS. | | | | Have a question, concern, or suggestion? Please submit it below, if you have the question others might also we frequently will put answers up for everyone to clear up any concerns or confusion.
