Don't forget to vote today! Hopefully, you have seen information on one of the propositions in which Judson is proposing a VATRE. Which is a proposed tax rate which if approved by voters would generate approximately 21 million dollars annually to be used for classroom instruction, staff compensation, and operational support. If you want more information on the VATRE go to https://www.judsonisd.org/VATRE

| | | Counselor CornerHello Families!
Recently, we celebrated our Perfect Attendance for the 1st 9 Weeks. Students that had no absences and no tardies were treated to a popsicle. Special shout out to our 2nd graders - they had the highest perfect attendance with 39% of all 2nd graders being at school with no tardies. 1st grade came in with 34% of those students being at school with no tardies. Take a look on our facebook page for pictures of the amazing kiddos here everyday getting faster, smarter, and stronger! Below are also some important flyers of events from around the district that you might want to check out. | | Learning in Classroom CirclesOct 14th-Oct 27th Using Kind Words If you would like to reinforce the lessons on Using Kind Words we recommend 4 popular kids books that could lead to great discussions. These could also probably be found on utube as well Stand Tall, Molly Lou Mellon by Lovell, The Recess Queen by O'Neill, Being Frank by Earnhardt, and Words and Your Heart by Neal. Some Sample Qs: Which of the characters in the story want to be our friend? Which of them weren't the nicest friends? why? What are some of the things they said or did that wasn't very nice?
The Goal: Words can make our heart feel happy or sad. We have to be careful not to use word's that hurt other people's feelings. A coffee filter keeps the grounds out and lets just the liquid in that adults like to drink. Our brain acts as our filter.
Oct 27th-Nov 10th Being a Good Citizen
If you would like to reinforce the lessons on Being a Good Citizen we recommend 4 popular kids books that could lead to great discussions. These could also probably be found on utube as well Clifford's good deed by Bidwell, Good People Everywhere by Gillen, Ordinary Mary's Extraordinary Deed by Pearson, and The Kindness Quilt by Wallace. Some Sample Qs: Everyone in a community is a citizen, what does a good citizen look like? What are some good things your classmates do that show they care about one another? How were the people in the books acting like good citizens?
The Goal: Students need to look beyond their own needs for the good of others in the community. For this reason, resist the urge to overly complement and reward good deeds. When we do a good thing we have a happy heart and that should be enough
Summary/Key Phrase: I take care of others ... I take care of the community | | | | Have a question, concern, or suggestion? Please submit it below, if you have the question others might also we frequently will put answers up for everyone to clear up any concerns or confusion.
