Olympia Weekly Week of October 6th | | |
 | |

| From the Principal The school year is flying by! Please be reminded, there is a 4 day weekend coming up on Friday. All testing should be in and teachers are reaching out to set up fall conferences. I am finalizing how students will qualify for this year's Leaders of Tomorrow shirt and several other awards and prizes. This year's color is neon green in recognition of 45 years that the school has been opened. More information on the shirt, awards, and prizes in next week's post.
Please Note*** Every week I send out a weekly newsletter and share upcoming events, important info from the PTO, and pictures and events from the week in case you missed it. This will be sent to the enrolling parents email, but can always be found on our facebook page which usually has more pictures of our events as well so it might be a good idea to follow https://www.facebook.com/olympiaelementary
We are moving away from ClassDojo and will not be using it at all soon. If you haven’t downloaded the Judson app, do it today!

Our annual bike rodeo was a huge success. Thank you to all the PTO volunteers and our staff to help make this event happen. We hope all the parents that came out enjoyed themselves. The students who were not participating did a great job cheering on their fellow students. |

 | Superintendent Shining Star-Layne Zepeda | Olympia family please join me in recognizing Superintendent Shining Star-Layne Zepeda
Through perseverance, dedication, and a positive attitude, he has overcome challenges and demonstrated remarkable growth. Layne's success is a testament to the power of hard work and importance of recognizing every student's unique journey. We are incredibly proud of his progress and look forward to seeing even more in the accomplishments in the future. |
 | Enjoying the outdoor classroom | Now that it is starting to cool off a little bit Ms. Mishue's class enjoys some academics in our outdoor classroom. Special thanks to the PTO for this contribution. Please consider joining and supporting the Olympia PTO, they are important part of our success!

| | | Counselor Corner | Learning in Classroom CirclesSep. 15rd- Sept 29th Handling Disappointment If you would like to reinforce the lessons on Handling Disappointment we recommend 4 popular kids books that could lead to great discussions. These could also probably be found on utube as well Pookins Gets her Way by Lester, Pete the Cat:I love my white shoes by Liwin/Dean, That's Not Fair by Mayer, Waiting is Not Easy! by Wilems Sample Qs: Make a Tchart of needs vs wants, talk about the two lists and the differences between needs and wants
The Goal: Remind students the important differences between needs and wants. We want to always be first in line (or last), we want to be door holder or to always be at recess. BUT we don't need that and our other friends want to have turns doing those as well. Another important lesson here is the different friends...need different types of special help. A teacher's decisions are based on your need not on what you want.
Sep. Sep 29th-Oct. 13th Respecting Personal Space
If you would like to reinforce the lessons on Respecting Personal Space we recommend 4 popular kids books that could lead to great discussions. These could also probably be found on utube as well Harrison P. Spader, Personal Space Invader by Jones, Clark the Shark by Hale, Roaring Mad Riley by Szcecinski, and Hands Off, Harry! by Wells. Some Sample Qs: Do you like it when other students get too close to you in line or when people push and shove? Picture a bubble around you keep that distance from others.
The Goal: Remind students the importance of keeping personal space. We keep our hands, feet, and objects to ourselves. When people respect our personal space everyone feels safe and comfortable.
Summary/Key Phrase: I have my space, you have your space
Summary/Key Phrase: We get what we NEED, but we don't always get what we WANT. | | | | Have a question, concern, or suggestion? Please submit it below, if you have the question others might also we frequently will put answers up for everyone to clear up any concerns or confusion.
