This week we are performing Map Reading testing. These results will help teachers drive instruction please ensure your students get here on time. Students who are at school between 7-730am can have breakfast in the classroom.

Clubs permission slips were sent home on Monday, Sept. 8th. Please contact your teacher if you did not make a selection. If a selection was not made the teacher will select based on what is left. Clubs will once again be during the school day. All students Kinder - 5th grade will participate in clubs. Filling out the club permission slip will help get your student into a club of their choosing. Please return the slips to your child's teacher as soon as you can. Our first clubs will be Friday, September 19. If your student did not make it home with their permission slip, you can follow the appropriate link to find the grade level's slip.

Hello Families!

I'm excited to get into our classrooms to teach your students! This year I am using a new curriculum for classroom lessons. Please see the family letter that is an overview of the lessons I will teach our students this year. The first unit is Growth Mindset and Goal-Setting. I will work with our students to help them learn that being good at something doesn't just happen. We have to keep practicing and not give up. I will work with older students about making a personal plan to reach a goal.

I'm so excited for the school year ahead of us!

Sep. 8th-Sep. 15th Lesson Getting the Teacher's Attention Appropriately

If you would like to reinforce the lessons on Getting Attention Appropriately we recommend 4 popular kids books that could lead to great discussions. These could also probably be found on utube as well Interrupting Chicken by Stein, Ivan the Terrier by Calalanotto, Ruby Sings the Blues by Daly, and Babushka's Doll by Polacco Sample Qs: What was the character's big problem? (loud voice/interrupting others) How did other characters like it when that happened?

The Goal: Remind students when we want the teacher's attention We raise our hand. In order to be fair and give everyone a chance to answer. Plus, you are showing and using great manners.

Sep. 15rd- Sept 29th Handling Disappointment

If you would like to reinforce the lessons on Handling Disappointment we recommend 4 popular kids books that could lead to great discussions. These could also probably be found on utube as well Pookins Gets her Way by Lester, Pete the Cat:I love my white shoes by Liwin/Dean, That's Not Fair by Mayer, Waiting is Not Easy! by Wilems Sample Qs: Make a Tchart of needs vs wants, talk about the two lists and the differences between needs and wants

The Goal: Remind students the important differences between needs and wants. We want to always be first in line (or last), we want to be door holder or to always be at recess. BUT we don't need that and our other friends want to have turns doing those as well. Another important lesson here is the different friends...need different types of special help. A teacher's decisions are based on your need not on what you want.

Summary/Key Phrase: We get what we NEED, but we don't always get what we WANT.
